oNe PhOtO a DaY JuNe 2020


THE PROMPTS


MONDAY 1st A: this prompt inspired us to have AFFOGATO as an afternoon treat today


TUESDAY 2nd b: I can never resist a handmade BASKET


WEDNESDAY 3rd C: This morning I made a CHART and CARDS for prepositions of place for our monks’ classes


THURSDAY 4th D: This part of Cambodian is famous for its DURIANS and they are in season right now but I must confess I have never eaten one


FRIDAY 5th E: My custom, handmade ESPADRILLES by Amboh and yes of course I chose orange


SATURDAY 6th F: In my day they were called FLIPPERS but to do believe this modern style are called FINS


SUNDAY 7th G: A spice for all seasons and many different drinks and dishes - that’s GINGER


MONDAY 8th H: Yesterday we borrowed clippers and Ian played HAIRDRESSER so I got my first home style HAIRCUT in 3 months


TUESDAY 9th I: Over the sand flats and beyond the fishing boats stranded at low tide are just a few of the many ISLANDS dotting the horizon in Kep


WEDNESDAY 10th J: The young, tiny, first (and second if you look closely at the top left corner) of the JACKFRUIT beginning to form on one of the trees in our yard



THURSDAY 11th K: Ian’s Kep KIMCHI is still fermenting at this stage but it will be ready for bottling come Friday


FRIDAY 12th L: Today I saw LITCHEES in the market for the first time this season and just had to buy some


SATURDAY 13th M: When there is a MINI MOKE in the yard what little man wouldn’t want to play in it


SUNDAY 14th N: I must confess several NUTS were consumed creating this shot


MONDAY 15th O: The last of the ORCHIDS in the garden is flowering just at the moment there isn’t a single bloom left on the others


TUESDAY 16th P: In the living room we have a tiny PRAYER WHEEL from Bhutan and I try to remember to spin it every day


WEDNESDAY 17th Q: Presenting the high protein superfood, which I have only recently discovered -QUINOA


THURSDAY 18th R: Beneath all these ROBES is a little monk sleeping during the ten-minute break in class today


FRIDAY 19th S: Our regular monthly SHOPPING trip to Kampot by Tuk Tuk supplied us with this haul of goodies today


SATURDAY 20th T: Two Japanese TEACUPS, I received as a gift


SUNDAY 21st U: A little expat Aussie nostalgia today, so I dug out a map and the “Australia in Brief” booklet I picked up at the embassy in Phnom Penh to photograph ULURU from over 6,000 kilometres away


MONDAY 22nd V: This statue of VISHNU is a landmark indicating the turnoff to the Crab Market zone in Kep


TUESDAY 23rd W: We use this Cambodian WAX to make the eco-wraps we sell to fund resources, snacks, breakfasts, hygiene products and outings with the little monks of Kep


WEDNESDAY 24th X: A traditional wooden Khmer xylophone was part of the ensemble gathered at the pagoda last week to accompany the rituals and ceremonies, we discovered were taking place when we arrived to teach


THURSDAY 25th Y: The little monks had two opportunities to attend YOGA classes last year and after class today some of them demonstrated that they still remember a few of the poses they were taught


FRIDAY 26th Z: The roadside verges near our home in are awash with colourful ZINNIAS at the moment


SATURDAY 27th ONE: of the many butterflies we spotted hiking into the National Park for a picnic brunch this morning


SUNDAY 28th TWO: Just the TWO of us and an iconic landmark in Kep


MONDAY 29th THREE: I had these THREE photographs all taken in Kep printed in March but I still haven’t managed to put them up in the house


TUESDAY 30th FOUR: After class, FOUR little monks playing in front of the Buddha in the yet to be completed main hall of the pagoda
